Review: Mipole LED lighting for your pole

We all want a space to pole where we can have fun and let loose.  I know I’ve been trying to tweak little things here and there to make my space exactly what I want it to be, because after a long day, I just want to rock out.  One important detail that can help set the right mood is lighting.  After all, who doesn’t want to add some extra pizazz to their pole space?  So I decided to try the Mipole Pole Dancing LED Light

What is it?

The Mipole light is basically a ring of colored LED lights embedded in a plastic donut-shaped unit that fits around the top of your pole.  When on, the lights create a club-like setting.  The unit is battery-operated and runs on 3 AAA batteries (not included).  The lights have both a constant on and a sound-responsive feature.

Will it fit my pole?

According to the product description, the unit fits both 45mm and 50mm poles (but it looks like it can fit 38mm as well).  It will also work with both spinning and static, permanent and removable, and single and multi-piece poles.  It does not matter whether the pole is flat against the ceiling or has a domed top piece.

How is it installed?

You DO NOT have to take down your pole to install the Mipole light.  Installation is simple and speedy, and the instructions are very clear.  Part of the unit detaches so that the open ring can be slipped around the pole, and there is also a rubber-ended screw that can be tightened against the pole, allowing for a universal fit.  Once the screw is in place, the removable part of the ring can be easily reattached.  The screw is still accessible for final adjustments.

How bright are the LED lights?

The LED lights are very bright.  The lights will not illuminate the entire room, but they do sufficiently illuminate the space around the pole, and they are noticeable even when the room is not in complete darkness.  I had been worried that they would not be bright enough when I first saw this product on Amazon.  It was not until I saw a video of the lights in use that I actually purchased the unit.

How sensitive is the sound-responsive feature?

Pretty sensitive; the lights can actually keep pace with the beat of the music (and any other sounds in the room).  The music does not have to be very loud for the unit to pick it up, either.  However, if you’re dancing in heels or are otherwise making noise, the lights will respond to that, too.

Can you choose which color is displayed when using the constant on feature?

No. My only wish regarding the constant on feature is that you could pick which colored light stays on rather than having to turn them all on at once.

All-in-all, the Mipole LED lighting unit ROCKS, and I’m very glad I bought it!  And compared to other lighting units out there, it’s pretty inexpensive, which is always a plus.

Here’s a quick video of the Mipole lights in action so that you can get a general idea of what they look like…
